Patient Counseling on Tuberculosis:

Educate patients and family members about weight control, regular exercise, stress management, and avoiding smoking.

Keep away the factors which increase cough and sneezing.

In case of attack, take rest.

Not to change brand, strength, dose, or type of dosage form without physician’s advice. Consult the physicians regularly.

Do not discontinue the dosing. Take the missed dose as early as possible, but do not take two doses at once.

Sustained release tablets must be swallowed whole.

Do not drive after the administration of drugs.

Contact the physician if there is redness or itching.

People who are being treated for TB should be monitored by a healthcare provider at least once per month to monitor for any signs of medication toxicity, such as liver injury.

It is important to avoid drinking alcohol and taking acetaminophen. Both of these substances can make the liver work harder, increasing the risk of liver injury from the medications.
