Patient Counseling on Tuberculosis:
• Educate patients and
family members about weight control, regular exercise, stress management, and
avoiding smoking.
• Keep away the factors
which increase cough and sneezing.
• In case of attack, take
rest.
• Not to change brand,
strength, dose, or type of dosage form without physician’s advice. Consult the
physicians regularly.
• Do not discontinue the
dosing. Take the missed dose as early as possible, but do not take two doses at
once.
• Sustained release tablets
must be swallowed whole.
• Do not drive after the administration
of drugs.
• Contact the physician if
there is redness or itching.
• People who are being
treated for TB should be monitored by a healthcare provider at least once per
month to monitor for any signs of medication toxicity, such as liver
injury.
• It is important to avoid
drinking alcohol and taking acetaminophen. Both of these substances can make
the liver work harder, increasing the risk of liver injury from the medications.
